Socrates and the Barbarians
Scott Samuelson wrote an opinion piece in the March 28, 2014 issue of the Wall Street Journal.[i] The title of his article was, “Would you hire Socrates?” He said the myth that studying humanities doesn’t pay was debunked by a study co-authored by the Association of American College and Universities and the National Center for Higher Education Management System.

Samuel P. Huntington, in his 1996 ground breaking book Clash of Civilizations, noted that “people define themselves in terms of ancestry, religion, language, history, values, customs and institutions. They identify with cultural groups: tribes, ethnic groups, religious communities, nations and, at the broadest level, civilizations.”
